Border Apprehensions Down 95%. That’s Why I’m With Trump.

Not because he’s perfect. Because he’s fighting for the right things, and he’s getting results.

Engraved-style scene of a great domed capitol building under a radiant star, with columns, steps and trees on either side, and a small American flag above the dome.

People ask me some version of this question all the time, sometimes nicely and sometimes not: “You seem like a reasonable person. Why are you so all-in on Trump?”

Fair enough. Here’s my answer, plain and simple.

He kept the promise on the border

For years we were told the border couldn’t be secured. It was too big, too complicated, too political. Then President Trump came back and secured it.

Today U.S. Customs and Border Protection (opens in a new tab) released its preliminary numbers for fiscal year 2026, and they’re stunning. Border Patrol recorded 98,708 apprehensions at the southwest border for the whole year, which CBP says is a 95% decline compared with more than 1.8 million per year under President Biden. CBP says that’s the lowest level in agency history, and that September marked the 17th straight month with zero Border Patrol releases.

Think about that. A whole year’s worth of apprehensions came in at less than half of what CBP says the Biden administration saw in its single worst month. That’s not spin. That’s a promise kept.

He’s betting on American builders

I’ve written about this a lot on this site, so I’ll keep it short. The President’s tax law lets companies write off new factory buildings (opens in a new tab) right away instead of over decades. His nuclear orders (opens in a new tab) aim to take American nuclear power from about 100 gigawatts to 400 by 2050. His Navy budget request (opens in a new tab) asks for $65.8 billion to buy 34 ships.

Every one of those is a bet on the American worker and the American builder. After decades of leaders who acted like making things was something other countries did, that matters to me more than almost anything.

He says what he believes, and it’s what I believe

I’ve quoted the 2019 State of the Union (opens in a new tab) on this blog more than once, and I’ll do it again. He said, “America will never be a socialist country.” He said, “All children — born and unborn — are made in the holy image of God.” He said, “Great nations do not fight endless wars.” And he closed with, “We must keep America first in our hearts.”

Free markets. Life. Peace through strength. America first. That’s my whole worldview in four lines, said out loud by the President of the United States.

“But he’s not perfect”

Nope. Neither am I. Neither are you. I’m not looking for a pastor in the Oval Office. I’m looking for a fighter who will defend the things I care about against people who have spent decades trying to tear them down.

And when you look at who has gone after him, and how hard, and for how long, you start to realize something. A lot of powerful people are scared of him precisely because he won’t play their game. That tells me he’s doing something right.

Why I’m staying all in

Here’s what it comes down to. I want my country to make things again. I want a border that means something. I want an America that protects the unborn and honors the elderly. I want lower taxes and less red tape for the people who take risks and create jobs. And I want leaders who put American citizens first, without apology.

Donald Trump is delivering on that agenda. So I’m with him. Plain and simple. And I think when the history of this era is written, a whole lot more people will wish they had been too.
